This year marked the first annual Community Challenge (ComCha) program which welcomed 14 new rowers. Those who participated learned to row in twice-weekly practices over four weeks. Though the weather didn’t cooperate for all practices being on the water, those days gave rowers a sense of the fitness the sport requires with indoor rowing sessions on the ergometer. Thanks to LHRC team members helping out and filling in seats, we were able to take out at least one 8+ for each water session. The program culminated with a great day of racing with three 8’s battling each other for bragging rights. We finished the morning with a brunch on the beach where LHRC team members and new rowers enjoyed the lake and the thrill of racing. Big thanks go out to Abby Doolittle and Mary Ewing for organizing this great event.
