The Out-of-this-World Story of Hilly

At 2am on the morning of Tuesday, April 10th , 2012, a large glowing object splashed down deep into the heart of Bantam Lake. One of the eyewitnesses described the object as being β€œthe size of a whale.” Since then, the idea of there being a space whale living in our home lake has captured the imagination of both young and old.

Hilly is our name for the whale and over the years the lore surrounding Hilly, and the Hilly story, have become just as much a part of the Litchfield Hills Rowing Club as the lake that Hilly calls home.

Hilly represents the friendly, accessible, and open nature of the Litchfield Hills Rowing Club. Hilly is a moment of levity, and a unique source of pride for our focused and passionate athletes.
